Fender Jazz Bass Special - CL Michigan

Not my bass, but thought somebody might be interested. This one would be circa 1986, and are highly regarded on TB. I paid close to $400 for mine new in '86, and I'm pretty sure these have gone for a lot more on TB. Seems like a good deal for somebody-- JH

For sale is a Fender Jazz Bass Special in excellent working and pretty good five foot away cosmetic condition. The bass has some finish checking toward the end of the body but from any distance you really can't see it at all. The neck on the other hand is probably one of the nicest condition necks I have ever seen on any of these basses in face it is near pristine. The bass plays and sounds great! Comes with an excellent condition hardshell case. Thanks for looking!

These are great basses! Love the tone. Classic Duff/GnR sounds.

Almost a clone of my MIJ P Bass! Agreed they are great players. Mine is the same colour combo. Excellent pick-up for the price.

I've got the active version for the same price shipped in the classifieds. Wonder if this is a rules violation

hey, help me out - is there a tb thread for these puppies? i've got 3 - one completely pristine fretless in burgundy dust, and 2 modded car's with fender's discontinued jazz 'replacement' necks.

also, just found this on the bay:

Fender MIJ 1984 Jazz Bass Special Light Green - Excellent Condition - New Setup | eBay

i think the seller's a bit 'confused': i think it's the 1989 successor to the 'power' JB special - and "medium scale"? when did fender EVER market a medium scale outside of the 'bass VI'?

Looks more like a Precision Lyte or Zone bass to me judging by the body, neck plate, tuners, etc.
I've come across a couple 32" Fender Japan Precision basses.

Agreed, although that's not a Precision Lyte bridge
