Fender MIJ 70's Precision Bass at GC

Sign in to disble this ad
The new Fender 70s Precision basses are on sale at GC for $528, down from the $849 they have been.

Through 10/20, there is a $75 coupon "roundout". They usually will apply the code to Fenders if you call.

If you get the coupon, that makes this a $453 MIJ Fender P Bass. Not bad.

Black blocks on a "70's Percision", that's funny. Sweet deal though

Don't forget to call Music 123. They will honor the coupon code and beat the price.

Edit: Ne'ermind. Not on their site.

I think it's a case of "the spirit of the law", rather than "the letter of the law".

I'm thinking someone at GC has made a website mistake. The price after coupon outs these below MIM and MIC Fenders.

Just ordered one from gc because music 123 didn't have any in stock, therefore refusing to do the price match. After tax in Texas it was $490.37. I'm freaking ecstatic. I only dreamed that this would ever exsist and to get such a good price makes it even better.

Yea. Guitar center took the $75 off by phone. Pretty helpful too.

I wonder what the necks and weight are like on these? Has anyone actually played one? Real 70's basses were boat anchors with a 2x4 as a neck. Well not that bad.

I'll let you know what I think about it when it arrives. I'm a big fan of the japanese stuff and I've been looking for an excuse to get out of my jazz phase

I think a lot of the 70s basses were ash, and these are alder.

Plus, I think it is mostly J Basses that people complain about 70s basses being heavy.

Sucks that it won't apply online, I could stack it with my 15% off coupon and get it for a ridiculous price. Tempted to call and try but I think I know how that will turn out.

I had a '75 ash P bass as my first bass. It was on the hefty side. So it wasn't just the J basses. And the only ones that were ash were the natural ones, all the solid finish ones were alder.

A lot of the weight increase for 70's Fenders was due to the type of paint being used and the amount of it, according to a Fender book I was reading last weekend

My '78 P-bass weighed 10 pounds.
