Small items aren't that risky. But read on.
HELLo music indeed. Three orders this year:
1. Tuner -- arrived in a few days.
2. Amplifier -- arrived in a few days.
3. Fender American Standard Bass -- train wreck!! I ordered on a Friday night, credit card was charged instantly. I reconsidered color choice, sent email message on Saturday to Customer Service asking to either modify order or cancel it. No response on Monday. Contacted them again on Tuesday, Tanya finally answered and said we can't modify it but we can cancel and you can reorder. I emailed and said yes, cancel; once canceled, I'll reorder. On Wednesday Tanya said the wrong color might ship but don't worry, we can redirect back to us. I said please don't ship, just refund.
Shipping confirmation arrived on Wednesday afternoon, 3 hours after the cleaning lady signed for the package. Series of emails (many many MANY), a few of which were answered but didn't address the request, several dozen phone calls none of which were answered, in attempt to get the required RMA number. Then radio silent on their end for over a week. Finally I called the secret corporate number on my credit card statement and got hold of one of the "executives" who said Tanya was on vacation but would be returning the next Monday. (Apparently she's the only CSR. Her emails, when she does send them, read like they were written by Dorie the fish from "Finding Nemo.")
In response to my next email, Tanya finally provided an RMA number and call tag, more than three weeks after the initial shipping date. I shipped the bass back. It arrived there in a day. Credit card refund took another 10+ days and three emails after they received the bass. Sorting this out felt like a full time job.
I am so done with HM. Beware, beware, beware. Read their terms of service.
Read the links above.
It appears they use the float on incoming orders to purchase the bulk merchandise to ship out. Credit card gets charged instantly, shipping happens later, customer service (if any) is inconsistent and manipulative. If these jokers are still in business this time next year I'll be very surprised.
