Quick update:

Jens,
Thank you for responding to my request.
I have been a fan of your work for quite some time and am grateful to be a proud owner of one of your great basses.
It appears there may be some twist in the neck. The Guitar Center I purchased it from informed me they put a small shim in the neck pocket and it seems to play just fine.
It appears some of the controls may not work correctly:
When the Master Volume is pushed in for passive mode:
The High Cut and Boost appears to work fine. I thought this should work in Active mode only.
The Bass Cut and Boost and Mid Frequency appear not work in Passive.
When the Master Volume is pulled out forActive mode:
The High Cut and Boost do not work
The Bass Cut and Boost and Mid Frequency do not work
The Pickup balance and Tone Blend appear to work fine.

Regardless of the above mentioned problems, this bass is one of the best sounding and best looking basses I have ever played.

I thank you for your time. I await for your instructions.
Thanks again.
Bill

Dear Bill,
what's going on with your bass? What is the problem and has to be repaired?
All the best!

I have to say, if it were not for this forum or this particular thread, I might not have known about the issues before making the purchase. The good folks at GC certainly did not disclose any issues until I brought them up.
This is a great community to be a part of. Thanks to the OP and all of you who provided first hand feedback about the bass.

My Ritter Raptor had electronics issues when I bought it, Jens makes a hell of a bass but he could use some better wiring and better potentiometers.

The dual potentiometers for high cut /boost, mid cut/boost and bass cut/boost, mid frequency all only available in active mode, did not appear to make a difference in sound. I checked the batteries and they were both close to 100% capacity. I took a quick look at the electronics and nothing stood out (loose wires, etc...).

I am very satisfied with the tone and playability and plan on playing it out this weekend. Hopefully i will be able to send it to Jens after the holiday rush for repairs. Nice solid bass with a distinctive sound. Can.t wait to do some recordings.
They probably finally put good batteries in when they sold it. I asked a few times.

Congrats.

Thank you, Brad. Your analysis got me investigating the electronics right away. The sound issue could have been linked to the short also. Jens returned my last email to say congrats on the fix and wished me a good time with my bass.

No problem... glad it worked out. I think I mentioned, the GC tech told me the controls were "subtle".

Man, I might have to close this thread, foreigners keep asking to buy it from me.
Anyway, get any word from Jens about the neck?
