A great way to find a deal!

I daily go on line and check my local GC’s used dept, but today I clicked on the red “price drop” button at the upper left of the page, which took me to all the price drops in the country.

I then chose “category” above the listings, went to “amps” and was checking out all the bass cabs.

Yikes… some of the price drops are significant… even with tax and shipping (which is very reasonable with GC), there are some killer deals. I should have noted some of the deals so I could post here, but didn’t think to.

Check it out.

I’m seeing cabs I never knew existed, like an AMPEG PR-1832HE BASS CABINET, one 18”, two 10s and two 8s.

(Page 32, $269.99, if that’s a good price)

That thing has to weigh a ton...

Well… she’s most welcomed.

Was as deal found, or did it just get you out of her hair for a while?

I’ve been surfing page after page, it’s quite fun and interesting…

total porn for me.

Always call the GC and ask for someone to check out the equipment, particularly amps, if it's a Price Drop. It's been sitting there for a while and there's often a good(bad) reason why. You can get your money back if it doesn't work within 30 days, and even fight for shipping back most of the time, however...if the amp they sell you for $120 catches on fire and takes out a $160 Neo speaker in your cab with it, they won't replace it no matter how hard you try.

Good advice.

I do know that you can return it to your nearest GC store, no matter where it was shipped from, if that helps any.

Being a person who’s shy about buying used, their policies make it more comfortable for me.

I’ve gotten a few good deals there, and a couple very-good deals, and those weren’t “price drop” deals.

A Fender ‘65ri Twin Reverb, Hot Rod Deville 410, a couple Fender four-string basses, an old GK 410 cab, lotsa drum hardware and cymbals…

Hell… I can’t recall them all, but whatever I’ve gotten from there that I’ve sold through CL, I got what or more than I paid.

My guitard has been trying to get a Morley Steve Vai wawa pedal (I offered him my Dunop Hendrix, but…) and getting beat out on ebay, and I found one from GC used for… well, after tax/shipping, $59, which is better than the best deal he’s tried for… so that’ll be his Xmas gift.

(Fortunately it’ll be here before Saturday (only one gig this weekend), so I’ll just give it to him then so he doesn’t buy one and can gig it now.)

In any case, as I said, I’m very backward about buying used, but GC does give one some security in that you can try it out for a while, and return it if you want.

Don't quote me on this... but I think if you buy something used online through GC's site, you can take it back to your local store if there's an issue (rather than shipping it back).

It wasn't always this way, but I believe it is now...

Likewise, you can have your item shipped from store to store (I don't think it really saves you much to do this).

I believe that is the case.

I was upset because the local GC didn't have an on-sale in-store-only item in stock. He found one in another store and said I'd have to pay the shipping, but they get a special price store-to-store.

It cost me $9 to get a 74-lb (unpacked) combo amp shipped from Cincinnati Oh to the Boardman Oh store, around 300 miles. Maybe he gave me some kinda break, I dunno.

That's funny, anytime I tried store-to-store it came out exactly the same price using their website. Guess you have to call to get a good deal(?)
