Seems like the list would be shorter if they listed what is included.

GC honors the coupon even on product listed on the exclusion list. You just have to call or stop by a store to get it. Same with MF, M123 and Zzounds.

I suspect that list would be their own store brands.

On a more serious note, if you talk to someone in person, they can generally be accommodating.

They will often times apply the discount (just did it for me) to many things when you call, Live Chat or stop by in person. Still makes me smile.

I was looking for a DBX DriveRack and neither American Musical or ZZounds would match the price when I called. It is hit or miss depending on who you talk to.

Why would it affect the manufacturer bottom line if GC sells their merch at a discount being the products have already been purchased at a given price by GC, prior to any discounts. It seems it's GC that's providing the discount (and taking the loss in revenue), not the manufactuer.

Some BS in the dealer contract, Im sure but still...

You get a better deal by sending an email to forums@musiciansfriend.com anyway.

If it becomes generally known that a brand is sold at a greater discount than the average street price, it reduces the credibility of their street price and MSRP. In turn, this negatively affects their wholesale pricing and ultimately their profitability.

Plus one. And some of the margins are too small to allow for deep discounts.
I am not a fan of guitar center.
However it's not hard to see that they are hurting bad.
Since they are owned by Bain capital I'm not holding bake sales for them anytime in the near future

I had heard that a lot of their Bain-generated debt comes due next month. I wonder if there'll be a fire sale?

I've never had an issue with them accepting one of these promotions for any product they had in the store or online. I know I've purchased things made by people on the exceptions list.

I've never dealt with musiciansfriend. How do you convince them to give better deals? 20 percent off is pretty good.

I was looking at that coupon code and called musicians friend and they matched it on an excluded item 150% per their price match policy.
