OP didn't say it was for a SINGLE ITEM of $299 or more.

Worst part with GC is that you usually have to pay state sales tax because GC has so many brick & mortar stores. If they have one anywhere in your state you get hit with the tax.

Best strategy is to have places that usually don't charge sales tax like Music123 and MF meet and beat the GC price. Yeah, I know they're all the same firm. But, this technique works most of the time. On Music123 it is easiest. Find the item and there is a tab on the bottom left side of the page for Beat This Price. Click it. Fill it out and you usually have an email within a few hours with their price match/beat.

They'll even match and beat an Amazon.com price. They had the Tone Hammer for $229 and amazon had it for $199 and they gave it to me for $195. Used the Beat this Price tab and had an e-mail within an hour.

I would have musicians friend price match it then apply the 15% off to something like a used jag at 480$ plus 15% off is a pretty sweet deal.
