Guitar Center Labor Day Sale?

What's the deal with the Guitar Center Labor Day Sale?

The website says it started 9AM Friday. Does that mean if I show up tomorrow all the hot deals are gone?

Do they open early tomorrow?

There weren't any hot deals in the first place...

Nothing beyond the normal sales they always have. Atleast at my GC, there hasn't been any great deals for their "List Event" in a couple years, although I once got a couple Rockbasses for $99 a piece, a couple years ago when they first were discontinued. Every one since has been a disappointment though.

And to answer your question clearly, yes, you will have missed out on all the good deals if you show up tomorrow, if there were any.

I got a Squire VM Jazz for $220.00 instead of $279.00 at last year's 4th of July sale there. The deals aren't what they were, though.

I went to two different GC locations and the list was virtually identical, not much in the way of deals. Hell, I saw a bunch of TV ads yesterday, this is nothing more than an ad campaign now.

Nothing like the weekly "SALE OF THE CENTURY!!!" ...about nothing...

...they may put out of their old stock, discontinued, returned, etc...but as for most of their inventory, it's business as usual...

There's 2 NOS Fender Standard Strats are my local GC for $299.99 this weekend. Haven't seen new MIM Standards for a lower price this year! You might say the Squire CV Strat is a better buy at $350.00? Not so sure...

They never give anything away as far as I can see. It is always better to buy used stuff private party.

For the most part the GC Labor day sale is a sham.

I was in a GC Saturday and they had a Gallien-Krueger MB2-500 head,listed for $846.

That is some BS.

Today I saw the Markbass 112 combo for $699. I think that's a pretty good deal . . . This is in Roseville, MN (Twin Cities) if anyone's interested.

I picked up a Markbass MiniMark (2x6 combo) for $379 out the door. Considering that they are $500 more I think I got a good deal.

well, not that it was a 'big ticket' item: I picked up one of those Acoustic B20 practice amps for $95 (GC - Natick, MA) which had been selling at GC/MF for $149. My expectations were low to begin with and I think it was a decent deal. Certainly, they weren't giving away gear - but I thought it was better than the last "SALE OF THE CENTURY" a couple months back. IMHO

I am just glad that the irritating banner ad is gone.

It used to be very good going back 5 years or so. Now, nothing special at all. They have these "huge sale" thing every major holiday / closing of quarter.
