Regarding shipping charges, they won't refund what they charged you for shipping (which is likely to be more than what it actually cost them considering the amount of business they do with UPS and FedEx Ground/Home Delivery). And I've returned a number of things and I've kept a lot!

A year or so ago, they seemed to refund shipping charges even on single item purchases, but the upgraded their system and stopped doing that.

I don't think GC is making money on shipping. |

I don't think GC is making money on shipping. | I've had similar experiences...a Hartke HyDrive 410 cost about the same as your Diesel to ship from somewhere way out East to Chicago (with tax, 14 month ProCoverage and shipping the cabinet was under $120  ). I got an Ampeg SVT410HLF shipping box out of the deal too.
I saw another a few weeks ago for $249 but shipping (again from the East Coast) would have been $45...so I didn't do it. In that case, I think they'd make some money.
