Just browsing MF's website and noticed some Laklands being on sale:
Natural with maple board 44-01 for $499
Any 44-02 Deluxe with rosewood board for $899
Natural with rosewood board 55-02 for $779
Black with rosewood board 55-02 for $849
These are all new basses, not used. How I wish I had some extra funds right now! No clue how long this is going on. |

I mean, the old stock thing I can see, hence the sale. But used, that is bad. You are better buying off our fellow TBers.
Just for our safety, can you share what marks/signs made you notice it was used? Or was it just full of fingerprints, dirt and swirls/scratches?
Thanks! |

Back of the neck has 2 indentions ... some weird stain like someone spilled something on it and cleaned it up and another spot on the neck where it looks like someones thumb has been playing..like the finish is wore off
Strings are rusted and obviously played in places...
Ill take pics so folks dont think Im anal or crazy this evening...
Electronics are really skecthy as well....buzzing when i touch the strings..and possibly why it was returned. ..
I can say on a positive...this is the best action Ive had on a Lakland to date...
Anyways slightly angry right now...even moreso if they try to hit me with return shipping.
EDIT: Just got off the phone with MF. They are sending a replacement and taking mine back on their dime.. I'll keep those interested posted when the new one arrives.

I've only noticed a handful of sellers that tend to post prices higher than used items at Guitar Center, MF, etc. I normally just skip past those individuals' listings.

I am sorry for all the hassle, but it's great that they are going to honor their sale and send you a replacement (new one?). Did you get the cherryburst or the sunburst? The reason I ask is that they seem to be out of the cherry burst, so if this is the one you got, I wonder if they will have to order a new one from Lakland. |

It came in the original packaging from Lakland, definitely not played. It needed some fret polishing since it was in the box for over 5 years. But it looks great now.
By the way, they announced they have a 3-tone sunburst 44-02 used one for sale in the site, is it maybe yours? |
