M-Audio Key Studio 25 - $59

Sign in to disble this ad
Musicians Friend has the M-Audio Key Studo 25 on clearance for $59. For anyone who ever wanted to add a MIDI controller to their arsenal of music gear this is a pretty cheap entry.

http://keyboards-midi.musiciansfrien...LAID=563023734

This is maybe slightly off topic but anyway I have an Akai MPK49, and I bought this M-Audio unit to take with me when I go to work (I work on a ship) I already have an inexpensive bass that I leave there., a Korg Pandora and my laptop. I have found that my learning to play keyboard (and I'm still taking baby steps) is helping me to understand the music theory aspect of my bass playing. Previously elusive concepts about cord intervals and such are now starting to make more sense. I don't know if I'll ever be an accomplished key player but it does allow me to create loops and such for my recordings (with lots of takes and edits at this point). Anyway this looks like a steal to me at $59. With one of these, your bass, and something like Ableton Live you can create a lot of music....all by yourself.

I ordered the M-Audio Key Studio after seeing this post and I got it the other day. Unfortunately, when I opened the box labeled "B-Stock" there was no CD with the "Session" software!! Anyway, I went to the M-Audio site and registered and all that and tried to download the software but it won't let me install anything without the original CD that came with the hardware. Anyone know where I can download a full copy of the "Session" software or have a copy they can email or FTP to me?

Yeah, I got a B-Stock as well. Nice of MF to tell us all about that up front isn't it. Deceptive advertising on their part.

Get Reaper and do some searches for freeware soft synths and samplers. there are plenty out there. Many interfaces and such come with a lite version of Ableton as well. See if a friend has a copy he might not be using or look for someone selling.

Another option is educational discount. If someone in the family is a student they could pickup for you the latest version of Reason, Komplete, or Ableton for around $100. My son is in collage and I've gotten some software using his educational discount.

Hopefully some of these ideas help you.
