| Got the Heir 5 - was shipped detuned a half step, tuned 'er up, action's a bit high outta the box, letting it settle for a bit after being out in a FedEx truck in the AZ heat.
Asymmetrical neck will take some time. It seems there's a very comfortable, loose style that can be settled into on the B string, hopefully...but it isn't what I'm used to.
Plugged her in for a sec, there's a major ground issue - ugh. Otherwise, the pickups sound pretty nice as long as I keep the treble knob <50% and keep my hands on the strings at all times. With the knob up, let's say that I remember some dentist's drills that are more pleasing to my ear.
Aaaand a good li'l ding with some paint crack up on the side of the body, not crowd noticeable. But. Come on. Was packaged and shipped nicely, too.
mrmm...RMA or...ugh. I dunno. The ground's easy enough, just sloppy work, but the ding? That's insulting. That's MY woman y'all been beatin' on! My job! I'mma wrassle me up some Amazonians!
<<insert hold music>>
Huh. Wow. Called customer service, got a nice lady who kept apologizing. Little too much, but hey. They're shipping me a new one, apparently it'll get here by Monday.
She's also sending me a link to print out a return label to take care of shipping - just gotta pack 'er back up (after a little weekend necking and the convo, "Sorry baby, you're sweet, and beautiful. But it's not you, it's me...") then drop 'er off at USPS once I get my new baby girl.
I do feel a little dirty about it. |
