I picked up a new GK MB2-500 from Music 123 about a week ago for 20% off for a shipped price of $399. When I got the amp, it had clearly been opened and repacked. All the accessories were unopened, but the amp had been taken out and used. It was an A07 revision though and it was in excellent condition.
I called their customer service department to let them know that I bought a new amp and received one that had been opened, and without even asking, they offered me either an exchange for a new one, or a refund for the difference between the new and used Level 1 price. I took the refund and got $50 back!
Their service was incredibly easy both times I called (the first time their computers were down) and their staff was very courteous. Plus, I got a rev A07 GK MB2-500 with full warranty for $350! |

I know that I was away of what was going on back then, but I am foggy on the details now... |

June 2007 Bain Capital signed an agreement with Guitar Center to purchase the music retailer for $1.9 billion, plus $200 million in debt. The buyout will be for $63 per share, a 26% premium on June 26's closing price. The deal was approved by shareholders on September 18, 2007 and closed October 9, 2007.[5]
Guitar Center's sister companies/subsidiaries incorporate Music & Arts Center, Musician's Friend, GuitarCenter.com, LMI, Giardinelli, Musician.com, Private Reserve Guitars, Woodwind and Brasswind and Harmony Central.
Musicians Friend: The core business for Musician's Friend is their musical instrument and pro audio products under the Musician's Friend, Guitar Center and Music 123 brands. They also manage the large online and catalog retailer for the band, orchestra, and educational market, The Woodwind and Brasswind.
Musician's Friend employees currently answer all inquiries as well as ship products for musiciansfriend.com, guitarcenter.com, music123.com, musician.com, privatereserveguitars.com, wwbw.com, and 4lyons.com. The company also owns harmonycentral.com, a large community and information site for musicians.

Not really a "hot deal", though, this thread? |

Uh...NO! WAIT! Music123!"

Does this mean that supporting the competition is a good idea, or are they so large that they will dictate pricing no matter what? |

| | | As long as the service is great and the deals are good, I don't care who owns what. It's when the service goes away in the name of good prices, or good retailers go out of business cause a crappy low price business takes over that I have a problem with this scenario.
I posted this in Hot Deals cause it was a good deal, but was torn what forum to actually post this in. |

But, for some reason I always have better luck with 123. In addition, easier to use their price match system as it is right on the product page for each item. I have gotten some amazing deals from them when I ask for a price match. They more than match. They often offer a price that is substantially better. Typically respond to emails quite fast as well. They're always my first stop for any purchase.

Three times they've sent me the wrong item I ordered or the wrong color, or something was missing from the shipment. I won't order anything from them again unless they start having a 90% off sale, and even then I would think twice.

This is my first experience with them. I ordered an amp, didn't
like it, so I called. They took the amp back with no question
AND let me use my 20% off again to buy another amp. So far,
I'm sold. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
