Non-bass deal: Vox VT40+ Modeling Guitar Amp

Sign in to disble this ad
Bestbuy is offering a stupid cheap deal on the Vox VT40+ modeling guitar amp. They screwed up on the posting. Its supposed to be $40 off with a free $15 gift card. I just processed the order at $150 off plus 2 free $15 gift cards. You'll have to have a local Best Buy near you to pick it up at which stocks the item. Not available with shipping.

$15 Gift Card and $40 Savings with Valvetronix amplifier

Enjoy!

Awesome...thanks for sharing! Luckily they had one in stock at my local store! Can't beat $100 for an amp and $30 in free gift cards.

Looks kinda like a gadget to me instead of an amp one would want to gig with. Still worth it for $100 and could probably flip on CL and double your $$$ (plus the $30 in gift cards).

I have one already, this I am buying as a gift. When I bought the Vox I have now, I had also tried Peavey, and Fender first. Had already ruled out the Line 6 - I don't like it.

The Peavey had some cool sounds, particularly the Fender and Mesa amp models. Also liked the tube screamer effect. Was built like a toy and had very buggy firmware. The updates didn't solve any of the problems. Certain amp models were a little noisy or had artifacts that I wouldn't be happy recording with.

The Fender had excellent clean sounds but the distortion options weren't very good and effects other than reverb and echo were pretty lame. Overall sampling quality was very good on any clean amp setting and some would be useable for recording. Difficult to get good sounds other than the basics. Volume was either loud or off. At lower volume settings (still loud) there was major tone suck.

The Vox sampling quality wasn't as good as the Fender but the amp and effects options were more useable and very easy to dial anything you want. Tube screamer effect not as good as the Peavey. Amp build is solid. 12ax7 tube does seem to have an impact at certain settings. Since you can dial in the power you get good tone at all volumes. Its possible to dial in a very quiet bedroom setting. Like the Peavey I wouldn't record with certain amp models or effect settings.

I wouldn't gig with any one of these and if I was serious about recording I'd invest better equipment. But for experimentation, learning and practice I liked the Vox best.

You guys did it again. Couldn't follow the url (blocked), ended up just going to the site, finding one 90 miles away (no biggie, I've already put 600 miles on this week), only got one gift card.... but a cute little Vox, brand new, for $85 net? As usual, wasn't looking for one at all, but made the mistake of coming here... thanks again (and my wife thanks you too, I'm sure).

It's funny how I refuse to pay full price for things I do need but I'll come here and pay half price for something I don't. It's a disease.

That it is! But guess what? I downloaded a rebate form, and from everything I can see Best Buy IS an authorized valvetronix dealer in South Dakota and I see nothing in the fine print to suggest I can't get another $25 back (while supplies last.. for purchases 10/1/11 thru 12/31/11!! Check it out.

Right out of the box my 12ax7 has an impact at any setting with that power control over min.. and not a good impact.. that is one noisy tube! Is yours like that? Louder than any all tube amp I own, as soon as it warms up it has a very loud hum/noise. I can live with the noise on some of the effects/models, but that constant tube noise bugs me. Curious, in case I just got a bad one...

I responded to your PM. Just had a thought though, how about posting a sample of the noise?

Heck, I'm not even smart enough to post pictures on these boards.

Mizzou, do you have more than expected tube noise when your power control is over 3? Or can you even get tubes to warm up this time of year in Duluth?!

I actually don't have mine yet. I got an email shortly after I ordered it saying they did not have it in stock at the local store. They found one in stock near KC where I'll be heading for Thanksgiving so I'm going to pick it up on Friday.
