Dunno what a "butcher block" B stock is, but these seem like good prices on these. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/bass/...tion?q=butcher |

Been thinking hard about this, would be a great way to try out a sixer without breaking the bank. |

MF is moving their distribution center so it most likely won't ship until Aug. 1st, but I'll have a full review up as soon as I can.

then I thought 1900 vs 250...hmmm I play primarily
upright, I have a nice Brian Moore 4 string also, but I've
lusted after a 6 for a while. So this was a perfect way to
see if I can get into the extended range thing.
I figure even if it needs a tuneup with the local luthier
its a good deal. And if its a DOA pile I can return it.
Also had my hands on a grind 5 string in the store and
I was impressed, quite nice for what you pay for these
things.

has changed, I ordered yesterday and got a ship
confirmation today.
It seems I will have to explain to my wife sooner
than expected

country you are on, since I'm on the other end

I ordered cables and some other odd and ends (that were all in stock). It's been almost two weeks since that order and it's still listed as "being packed". I called them and they said everything is running about 2 weeks behind... So no need to worry, you will get your bass (eventually).

I'd certainly recommend it over the Squier II P-Bass that was my first bass when I started out. Fit and finish were good and the hardware was certainly acceptable. The pickups are the obvious weak point but they were quiet and did the job and the host of aftermarket options makes it an easy upgrade down the road.
Full review to follow once I actually get my 6.
Cheers,
J.

| | Registered User | | Join Date: May 2003 Location: Portland, OR | | I got mine :) It arrived yesterday afternoon. It is no different in
wood from the regular retail Grind. In fact, from the
box it seems that its just a refurb.
There are some minor cosmetic imperfections that I
could find, but nothing whatsoever of consequence.
Yes, you can tell its an economy design at a number
of points but its still a great instrument for the money.
The action is so low that the E and B strings will buzz
a bit but I plan to put TI Jazz on this and will have
the luthier adjust the strings.
The sound is just great, it doesnt quite match my
Brian Moore i4B, but its great for passive, in fact
on the G and C strings I like the tone better.
Bottom line, this is truely a bargain, if you are looking
for your an inexpensive entry into extended range
I would hurry and snatch one up cuz they probably
won't last long.
Cheers,
