Seems average price for a Killer B, looking at Ebay people try to get $1600 but only one sold at that price, a 6 string. Might be worth it for someone in the market for a bass in that price range.
About the "pre Gibson" thing...everything from reputable sources I have come across is in line with what this site states: (
Tobias Killer B )

Just before Mike Tobias stopped working for Gibson at the Burbank shop they developed the Killer B

so there may exist a small number that were produced before Mr. T left Tobias, but after Gibson acquired the company.
I know there's disagreement on the use of "pre Gibson," some feel it refers to anything made before the move to Nashville and the accompanying loss of all Tobias personnel. If you subscribe to this view, it's possible but mathematically unlikely this bass is such. It's probably best not to even consider the claim when trying to decide on buying it, unless there's actual proof. Sellers (and stores) have been known to slap the "pre-Gibson" tag on any Tobias they get, hoping to increase the price /desireability or out of ignorance. My old Killer B was one of those, seller swore it was p-G but an email to Gibson disproved this. IIRC it was dated to '91 or '92, an early B and a great bass but a Gibson product.
