Sadowsky BLEM pickups on Sadowsky

Sign in to disble this ad
Since I've paid $100 shipped for used Sadowsky pickups TWICE on TB, this is kind of a blessing / curse here...

Sadowsky's site has BLEM Humcancelling 5 sets for $90 plus shipping. I just got a BRAND NEW set and there are no glaring problems (they look brand spanking new... and they are!).

It's a sweet deal. These pickups kick major butt, are cheaper than just about any other set of any pickups of similar quality, and I'd highly recommend taking advantage while they last.

Just waiting for the bass these are destined for.

I'd also recommend them. I have a set in a bass and they are wonderful. These are five string J's though, so if you want four's, they aren't blem'ed and discounted.

... So Fender fans, you're S.O.L.

But if you have, let's say, a Squier Deluxe Active Jazz V, they fit fine.
They are the same size as Dimarzio Jazz 5 string pickups.
These will fit more basses than the Fender pickups will.

Hi guys, I'm new to this forum. I just bought a Squier Deluxe Jazz V active. You believe these Sadowsky pickups will work in the bass without any modifications? Also, will these pickups alone, without a new preamp boost the output of the bass?

Thanks for your time. Here's a pic of the bass just to make sure.

You should confirm, but I don't think that they won't fit without enlarging the openings.

Thank you Chasarms. I have been playing for over 25 years now and still know so little about the electronics of a bass.....I hope to learn to do my own soldering on this bass. I have the dimensions of the pickups on this bass as:

Bridge pickup=3 5/8" close to 9.1 cm.

Neck pickup=3 9/16" close to 9.0 cm.

Thanks!

No, not at all...

It will probably improve tone, not exactly output, since these are pickups are not particularly hot...

I disagree! WITH PROOF!

They boosted the hell out of the output.
Stock pickups register about 6.98k...
The Sadowskys came in at about 16k, so they have a lot more output.

The only modification I did was to file off the very edge of the pickups on the sides only, in the part that's inside the body, so there was no sign of modification on the outside.

Very easy install, very nice results.

Thanks guys, I will let you know how things work out with this 5 string. I have a 4 string with Barolini pickups and pre amp and it has.....definition that the 5 string can't touch. I just want to know what would be my best option....Pickups or a new pre amp?

Sadowsky just got back to me about my order on the blemished pickups. They just ran out of the pickups. I just thought I'd mention it here.
