Great little amp, not too loud but will cover a small club gig with no issues. Great price for an all tube amp.

UK or Chinese build?

MSRP is staggering if the latter.

Good luck with these. My friend, whose company was a distributor for Ashdown, told me that hey had almost a 50% return rate.

Wow! I always wonder about these SDOTD deals...but I did bite on this one. Did your friend share what the common issues were?

These are great amps...I'm nuts about Ashdown kit. GAS'ing for an LB 550.

Anyone in the NY Tri-State area who missed out on the MF $399 SDOD special, someone in NYC bought one and is hoping to unload for the same price locally because it wasn't loud enough for their needs:

Yeah, there were real horror stories about the first Chinese ones, but that was a few years back. They never got that squared away?

Here's my eternal question: If cheap Chinese computer gear, which is hugely more complex and far cheaper, can typically go forever with fails being truly rare, how come simple amps are such a challenge to get right with any longevity, even at wildly inflated MSRPs like these?

Makes no sense to me.

And likewise WHEREVER they're made, at any price.

This is one great little amp. It's the Jennifer Lopez of bass amps...that is to say, lovely round bottom. This tone is it!! Glad I pounced. Now, I will be swearing off GAS for Lent. So no one post any hot deals, K?

On the contrary, computer stuff fails all the time. Particularly, hard drives and video cards.

Although the failure rate for hard drives is probably actually about 15%, it seems more like 20 or 25%. Solid State drives included.

Video Cards are probably about 8 - 10% within the first week. probably half of them are bound to fail within about 4 years.
