Question Should I buy this Bass??

A 2002 Warwick Corvette Standard 4 string. It has a natural oil finish, a bubinga body and ovangkol with chrome hardware. I would be getting it used for 650 dollars. It has also been fitted with DiMarzio Model-Js pickups instead of the MEC's.

Also it is my first time on TalkBass. Nice to meet you all.

Welcome BK - I can't tell you if that's a good deal or not, but you'll reach a much wider audience with your question if you post it in the "Bass Guitars" forum. This one is just where we post great online or Craigslist deals we've spotted.

could go cheaper with the MEC pickup, if you look closely, there are best deals around 400-450 for the bass (with MEC pickups). I'm not sure how DiMarzio pickup is going to affect the price tho.

FACT

Don't know the current price. I had a German-made Corvette 4 string several years ago, believe I sold it (like new) for around $700.

OPINION

I will say this about the tone. I have in my entire life heard one and only one Warwick that sounded good without extensive processing from a $$$$ pro effects rack and PA. It had a Seymour Duncan pickup in it. I have to believe that Dimarzio pickups can only be an improvement over the stock. I've heard Dimarzio jazz bass pickups (not sure exact model) and liked them. Even with the rack and PA, there's only one MEC equipped Warwick that I've heard sound good, and Jack Bruce was playing it, which might have had something to do with it.
