Stradivarius upright bass, antique CL, located in Pittsburg PA http://youngstown.craigslist.org/msg/3558931991.html I don’t know anything about these, but thought I’d post it just in case it’s a good deal. “ANTONIUS STRADIVARIUS UPRIGHT BASS W/CASE MADE IN GERMANY $6999 VALUE - $1599 (PITTSBURG, PA )” |
Suspicious. Who's gonna sell a $7k bass for $1500? If its a real Stradivarius, it belongs in an auction. Not eBay, but a real auction where people with money show up. |
I smell a scam. I would need to see proof. |
Those German Strads are collector pieces. |
I'm guessing there is a company named Stradivarius and that this is not a Stradivarius by the famous maker from Cremona, Italy. |
Countless violins and cellos and basses say Stradivarius inside. |

Craigslist - It's probably stolen. lol |
I don't believe that "the" Stradivarius even made basses. The largest he/they did was cellos & harps |
The ad says, over 40 years of age. And as we all know, Stradivarius didn't make any instruments after the 1950's. Maybe it is real! |

Has anyone posted this link on the DB side of TalkBass? They'd know more about this subject than solely electric bassists. |
Oh, taking this thing seriously then: if it's a fully carved 3/4 db that's decades old and made in Germany then $1599 is an incredible price for it even if it needs hundreds of dollars of work done more likely it's a ply or hybrid and $1599 is still a good price if it doesn't need much work |
What Dave said. ^^^^^ |
That crazy SOB's been flogging that poor old spray-painted bass on every CL board within 500 miles of Pittsburgh for over a year. The price changes in every ad, up and down. {sarcasm voice on} Amazingly, no one has bought it. {sarcasm voice off} |
