Long story short, I bought that bass from the Boston store, had it shipped to Manhattan, played it for a week (one rehearsal and one gig), and returned it today as it didn't quite fit what I was looking for. (I need super, super low action because of tendonitis, and this could only get "very" low.)
It is a *killer* black + maple PJ, with ESP's modern J shape, 3-band EQ with passive tone control, passive/active switch, and an incredibly comfortable neck. Also one of the lightest basses I've ever played, let alone a 5-string.
If you want a "traditional" looking, resonant, extremely light, and very playable modern 5er with a great low B and solid electronics, check it out. It was $800, and that looks to be a steal. Wish I could have afforded to keep it, but now someone else can get a pretty awesome deal.
