Used Lakland 44-02 $599 Chicago

I saw a lakland 44-02 today used for $599 in the chicago GC out by halsted and diversey. I didn't get to try it or get a good in person look at it (it was near the ceiling) but it appeared to be in good shape. With Lakland's QC it should be a good player. It was a natural finish with a RW board IIRC.

There was also a Peavey t-40 there if anyone wanted to try one out, but that one is at $399. It currently has flats on it and is a little beat up. Might be good for someone to haggle.

Oh, if anyone here hasn't yet seen that GC takes no care of their basses...try the geddy lee that they have. I can't even say anything about that.

I went in and played it today. There's a HUGE crack that runs deep between the bridge and MM pickup. There are also two holes drilled in the headstock to accommodate what must have been a string bar, the master knob is bent, and the truss rod nut is stripped. It's $599. They won't budge on it. Eh?

Yikes, scratch that then! Unless someone here can fix those things easy, that's definitely not a hot deal. Sorry folks! If someone is thinking of that though maybe they could bring it in over to the lakland factory, they might be able to fix a few things. Let it sit for a while though it should go down in price if a luthier doesn't get his hands on it.
