exactly, I would love to see the Sabre in tobacco burst, or vintage white!
Flip flop paint is for ricers.
If it's available with an "SLO special" neck I may be able to see one in my budget regardless of finish.

I dunno. In the past Sterling Ball has poo-poo'd the few individuals clamoring for a re-issue of the Sabre. I totally agree with what he was saying. Then he puts a re-issue Sabre on the market! In a goofy color to boot! The Sabre has never really done anything for me, so I would definitely pass on this at face value. If EBMM has worked it's magic with the electronics and come up with something that is a great departure from the old Sabre and an improvement over their current offerings ( hard to imagine ), I'd at least audition one. But as the marketing hype stands, I'd pass.

I'll give EBMM credit where due. They keep their bass guitar product line dynamic and fresh enough that they can sell any EBMM aficionado a new bass every 6 months. Not many companies can do that. This bass follows that marketing and I hope they do well with it.

My money will be going to Bass Central - but not for one of these.
I really like the Sabre (funky color & all), but I already have the EBMM-thing covered with my red sparkle Stingray, and besides, right now I'm a full-blown Spector addict, so my next bass will be either another USA NS-4 or NS-2 from Beaver Felton.

I don't dig that oil neck finish on the newer rays, so if the sabre has it I'll pass. Gimme a classic ray with a j width neck and then we'll talk

Word from Sterling is that the Sabre will indeed be re-introduced as a standard production model at NAMM.

I've also ordered a Sledge StingRay 4 with Maple Fingerboard from Bass Central. Thanks Grasshopper!

Thanks to Beaver, and Perry, and GrassHopper. The whole gang really..

My Sledge Sabre arrived today.

I am wondering where my Certificate of Authenticity Signed my Mr. Levin is though. Not in the Box, or the Case.

Lovely! How do you like it?

BTW, I'm wondering where the advertised STB bridge is...

I like if, it has a bigger neck than I am used to, but it is not uncomfortable. Just a little slower. I'm curious what is an STB bridge?

STB = String Through Body... just like the other Classic series models. I find it quite a mazing that they'd do a different bridge plate just for the Sabre. Outrageus costs for the tooling... the ads were not clear on the STB, some mentioned it, some not. I expected it, because it's a Classic series EBMM and because the part was already available.

How do you like the sound? IMO the sound palette from my ('83 - '88) Sabres is more distinct and more versatile than that of my HH 'Rays. And the 2 band EQ really brings out that typical MM ooph and sizzle. What's your experience so far?
