Finding someone to play with

Has anyone else had this problem? I know a lot of musicians - guitarists. No one wants to play the great bass tunes! I've been playing blues songs like "She Caught the Katy" and 'Born Under a Bad Sign" and "Wild Night" this past week and all I can get out of my guitar friends is "Blue Moon". ***? I can play and I can sing, and I'm FRUSTRATED by not being able to play anything interesting. It's hard to lead a song as a bassist - or is that necessarily the case? I'm not Jack Bruce, I'm afraid. But I'm a good singer and a reasonably good bass player.

Lets face it. Unless your playing a jazz combo gig the guitar players and lead signers (LSD) want you on 1 or maybe 5 if it's not too confusing. Bass player that can sing? Really? Ha! What are you trying to be Sting. I think they are all scared we are going to take over like an alien force.

....and with good reason. Luckily for them, we don't tend to clamour for the ego stroke.

I guess I should count myself lucky. The lead guitarist in my band wants to do Born Under a Bad Sign.
