Newbie inquiry

Hello all!
Been a bass fan for yrs although I never actually picked one up till last wknd at a music store and played around a bit.

While I took some guitar lessons a few yrs ago I think I prefer bass and heres why: bass makes sense to me as far as beats and tempo, where to come in, etc. On the other hand, I really stuggle with guitar.

Not sure if its because I always seem to have a knack for keeping a beat or whatever.

Anyways, just want to know: does that make any sense? Is it kinda a way that bass and myself would be a good match?

Hi,
Nope you're not alone. I was trying to learn how to play the guitar by myself, with no one to show me anything. Finally I met a couple of guys who were good guitar players, and they showed me a few things. I learned how to play a few simple songs on my own, and they suggested we start a band! Try as I might, I just didn't feel right with the guitar. Anyway, one day while at a music store I saw a Fender P-Bass on the wall, as a joke I picked it up and then, hmmmm...this feels great! Then I started to pluck a few notes and that was it, I knew that I was a bass player! My advice to you, trust your feelings!

Welcome to the "dark" side!

I originally started on guitar; after three years I started meddling with the bass, then joined a band with my church. I couldn't get up to speed fast enough with the guitar, so I switched and have been home ever since. Funny, I haven't owned a bass in several years, but I have three guitars...

I have more fun on the bass and have been concentrating my efforts there (I play the church bass primarily). I think starting on guitar has affected my brain though, I have a tough time with five strings but a four is what I play on now and I'm trying to get a six, it feels more natural to me.

Enjoy!
