Shipping Question

Hi All, I'm going to be working out of town and I would like to ship my bass and have it with me. I did some very basic checking out of FEDEX and UPS and it seems they don't have boxes big enough. So here's my question: What is the easiest and least expensive way to ship to ship a bass in a hardshell case?

Thank you all in advance.

First off Fed Ex is cheapest. Secondly, it is easy enough to get a few big boxes and cut them and turn them into one big box using packing tape. I have done it a million times. Last year I shipped an American Deluxe 5 string jazz bass from STL to Attica Kansas, insured for $1000, via Fed Ex and the cost was $40.

DO NOT ship your bass just in the case ever. IF it gets there in 1 piece your lucky. WHEN if gets damaged your claim will be denied EVERY time due to impropper packing. You'll need a bass box or a bike box.

Put it in the case and then buy or make a box big enough to put the whole bass in, along with enough packing to protect it. And insure it.

I always ship my bass via Fed-Ex and never had an issue. Actually, they would not let you ship one without a box. At least the one I use won't. With insurance it ususally only cost's between $30 and $40. I also have a good friend who works at GC and I just have him get me a few large guitar boxes from their supply. Gibson boxes usually work perfect and so does coffin case boxes.
