I would personally really love to hear from Jeff Bradetich; he's an incredible musician and teacher.

This is a great idea, Calvin! I used to study with Jeff, and I am planning on sitting down with him for an interview when he has some time. The major difficulty with these interviews is simply finding time when both of us are free, but Jeff is definitely on my list.

It really is excellent. I also have the 'advanced' packet, and I'm going to be uploading that to the blog site so that people can download it. I studied with Jeff when I was in high school, and I really got a lot out of working with him. I actually went to Northwestern to study with him, only he switched jobs and went to North Texas that same year. I decided to stick around Chicago, but I really got a lot out of working with him before that.

Featuring Catalin would certainly be a good idea! I put out a track of Catalin playing the Brahms Sonata first movement on episode 19 of the podcast, but having him as a guest would be great. He and I both used to teach at University of Wisconsin schools, and it would be interesting to hear his perspectives.

Yeah I'm A Madison guy and I saw him play live at Henry Baumes workshop and was blown away.

He's a very talented soloist and really good at motivating students. I have a former student studying with him right now, and he's really getting whipped into shape, which is exactly what he needed. I heard a recent recording of my old student, and he'd really gotten better, both technically and musically.

A couple more suggestions for guests, I'd love to hear from both Joel Quarrington and Jeffrey Beecher. I think they both would have a lot to say with Joel a seasoned player and a real pioneer for fifths tuning, and Jeffrey having so much success at a young age.

I'm sure they're both busy like many of your guests, but it'd be great to hear them on the podcast.

I really like hearing from all these working classical bassists. They are all such great musicians and you never really hear much about them otherwise.
A jazz or improv bassist with half the technique and trainning can become much better known worldwide, so it is good to hear about these great musicians.

Thanks for that feedback, Damon! I really enjoy interviewing the classical players (since that's what I do), but I'm also looking forward to chatting with some more jazz musicians and bas players who specialize in other styles. Interviewing Ranaan this past episode was really cool for me because he brings so many diverse influences to the table--his Curtis training, jazz playing, orchestral experience, bluegrass playing, and composition.

I'm glad you're on top of things. Joel and Jeff are both really nice people who I'm sure have lots to share.

I'm really enjoying the podcast... I'm now subscribing, and slowly working through the back episodes (not so much in order, but I'll get to them all eventually).

How about an interview with Michael Cameron? Seems like he'd be right up your alley, being a "classical" guy and being in Illinois.

I really like your podcast Jason. It is very insightful and informative.
This just came to me. Jason, I think that Volkan Orhan would be a great guest. He studied with Gary Karr and came to the US from Turkey in the 90's. Iowa City is only a couple hrs away from Chicago too I think.

+1. He is great player. He sounds amazing on those Guillermo Greggorio cds and plays the Sh++ out of PSY by Berio on the Complete Sequenzas and solo works box.

And Uh, I am going to be in Chicago in early October....
