Good thoughts for John Glik

John Glik is one of Frank Wakefield's favorite musicians and by all reports is a great guy. Best of good luck to him.

AWESOME! What a show this was…if you were not there, you missed a good one. David Grier opened the show with some one man flat-picking extraordinaire…Salt Creek, Red Haired Boy and some originals, one was, Ever Been to England. Next up was the Forbes Family…great harmonies and some comments about John that made tears come to your eyes. Then came Del and the boy…AWESOME…all dressed in suits, hair slicked back and ready to pick. Ronnie did his instrumental Hillcrest…lightening fast…he said “he had a little bit of Glik in the song” which means it was fast and accurate. After Del did a 45 minute set they showed a video of John Glik from his Baltimore hospital bed…not a dry eye in the house! Then Del came back for another 45 minute set with the DAWG and Jerry McCoury…Ronnie and Dawg traded mando licks all night. They did straight ahead bluegrass (some really old Del stuff) for the next 45 minutes. Ended with Ronnie’s song written 15 years ago about John Glik called Baltimore Johnny…it was a great evening. The last song was rolling in my sweet baby’s arms…what a night it was! Sold out house of about 400 people, lots of money raised, there was more talent and pickers in the audience then you could shake a stick at…we could have had an all night jam…no problem. There was a professional video crew there and lots of boot leg taping…I’m sure some of it is on you tube by now. Del and the boys flew home to Nashville and are on the Opry tonight…Whew!
