Floyd and Stuart, VA

I live near Raleigh, NC. But earlier this year my wife and I bought an old farm cabin and some land in Woolwine. Woolwine is about 5 miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway, and about 10 miles from Floyd.

What is the music scene like in the area in and around Floyd and Stuart? I've been to the Floyd Country Store, but not for one of their Friday Night Jamborees yet. I hear it's real popular, lone musicians and pick up groups out in the streets and such sometimes. And it looks there are some other places in town that have live music too.

You are in the center of an excellent music scene. Go to the jamboree and work from there. I think you're gonna love it there.

Floyd has become a big music scene in this area especially acoustic and bluegrass. You will have a blast there!

Boy you all were right. I was up to Floyd about a month ago on a beautiful summer Friday evening. I swear there were seven or eight different jam sessions all strung out along the street outside the Country Store, all within like 75 yards of each other. Look down this alley, there's another session. Look across the street, there's two more. Never seen anything quite like it. It was relaxed and friendly and enjoyable. Really a unique music scene, and I dug it.

There is a cool place in Floyd that I learned to clog at. Highly recommended. Can't remember what or where it was though.
