Guitar Strings

What I would like to know is what guage of strings (number of the high E string) do your guitarist use? I recently bought a flat top, and want to learn some flatpicking, and got called a wimp because my strings were to light. So, if any of you happen to play, or know what your guitarist plays, I would appreciate it.

By the way I am currently using 10's, my guitarist uses 12's.

Thanks

With acoustic guitars, .012's are light guage. .013's are medium guage. If you are just starting out on guitar, I would recommend the .012's.

For playing fast, medium gauge and a heavy pick, but for starting out light gauge should be fine.

Medium Gauge D'Arco Brass Bronze: 13, 17, 26, 35, 45, 56

Set up properly, they should be pretty easy to play - its all in the shape of the board.
