Seriously, that looks like a gas Jason. Great stuff. I would approach the bass part to that tune pretty much exactly the same way. That's what I hear too. (Except I can't do that slapping **** like you do. I've never developed it properly and I tense up like a wolf-trap when I get frisky enough to do it.) Sometimes my rational brain pokes through and tells me I'm playing too much -- doesn't this material do better with root-five? Listening to you do it like that says I should tell that smarty-pants brain to shut up and play it the way I hear it.

Then ill be a hat guy. But while I still got it I'm gonna let my freak flag swirl around my head like Van Gogh's starry night. About the tune. I never heard the bass part as anything else. It's a Hartford tune for one and that alone makes me feel free to do what I want. In the context of the album this was one of the few swingy tunes. I just went with my gut. |
