Yeah, I got to pick with Mike years ago at the after party of the Granville Island Bluegrass Festival, when he and Grier were touring in support of 'Climbing the Walls'.

Seriously, that looks like a gas Jason. Great stuff. I would approach the bass part to that tune pretty much exactly the same way. That's what I hear too. (Except I can't do that slapping **** like you do. I've never developed it properly and I tense up like a wolf-trap when I get frisky enough to do it.) Sometimes my rational brain pokes through and tells me I'm playing too much -- doesn't this material do better with root-five? Listening to you do it like that says I should tell that smarty-pants brain to shut up and play it the way I hear it.

Exactly. You want me to cover up this masterpiece? Both those guys are shiny bald and ill probably be too one day. Then ill be a hat guy. But while I still got it I'm gonna let my freak flag swirl around my head like Van Gogh's starry night. About the tune. I never heard the bass part as anything else. It's a Hartford tune for one and that alone makes me feel free to do what I want. In the context of the album this was one of the few swingy tunes. I just went with my gut.
