PA jam session?

Hello! I currently live in Philadelphia, but will soon be moving back to the Central PA area. I was wondering if there are any good bluegrass jam sessions in either the Philly area, or the Harrisburg area. I think I remember hearing of a jam in Gettysburg, and of a jam in Carlisle. Are either of these going on? Any others that I could look for? Thanks!

There's a terrific bluegrass jam every Friday night at Arrowhead Bluegrass in downtown Gettysburg. Not sure of anything in the Harrisburg area, but Gettysburg is only about 45 minutes away.

Happy thumping!

This is a great sight to find jams almost any where in the USA.

There are several jams on any given night of the week in southern PA. Check out this link: http://home.comcast.net/~epollak/jam.htm

The Arrow Horse jam is a regular Friday night event…every week, 7-10 pm, open acoustic jam, no stage, no mic’s, nothing electric. We are there every Friday for this jam.

Also close by is Monday nights in Hanover, PA at the Dutch Country restaurant (more country then bluegrass), Wednesday night jam at Arcadia Fire Company in Arcadia, MD, Thursday night open jam in Craley, PA at the community hall (nice venue) and others listed in the attached link. Come on out and enjoy some live music.

Thanks for all the responses! I'll definitely check out the one in Gettysburg when I get a chance (my folks live just across the state line in Taneytown, MD - good reason to visit! ). I'll be moving back out that way at the end of May (I know it's only a two hour drive to H-burg, but it seems so much further than that because of the urban/rural thing).

Is the Arrow Horse right off of the square in G-burg? I'm sure I've walked by it before. I'm assuming it's the shop with mandos and banjos in the front window?

and the blues society of central pa hosts both a regular electric and acoustic jams, meanwhile steve rudolph, i believe, will be again hosting a weekly jazz jam at the hilton in harrisburg during the summer months.

openmikes.org is a good way to find something just about anywhere ... the info on central pa seems reasonably accurate, i've had mixed results in other places, tho.
