Thunder Down Under

Howdy all,

Thought I would post you all here seeing BluegrassBassPlace is off line.

I fly tonight over to Sydney to check out and hopefully purchase a secondhand New Standard Cleveland - the only one Down Under, I believe. I can't wait.

The next day we fly an hour north to a small place called Dorrigo ("up in them there hills") for a small bluegrass and folk festival. Our band is opening the festival in the town hall with a reinactment of a 1950's radio show, complete with a radio announcer, our band performing around a single mic and visuals of bands and rural America (still shots and video) projected onto a screen while we perform. "Goodness gracious me, its Martha White!!" It should be fun.

I'll be back home hopefully with the NS Cleveland next Tuesday. I'll post pictures when I'm back, either here or BGBP.

For those of you who haven't caught my update at BluegrassBassPlace here's a short slide show of the bass now in my possession:

http://s444.photobucket.com/albums/q...view=slideshow

The bass was hired out to visiting bassists including Senator Eugene Wright (Ex Dave Brubeck Quartet) - that's his signature on the back.

Here's some Youtube of The Senator playing my NS Cleveland. The guy in the back is David Seidel who owned the bass - he broke a tendon in his thumb the week before, which is why he is playing so timidly.
