12 banger tuning

Sign in to disble this ad
ok i treated myself to a hamer 12 string (4 bass stings with 2 octaves on each)
currently i have all the strings tuned the same (we play in drop C) and i've slapped a good old set of rotosound flats on it

i'm just wondering if there's any funky ways of tuning the octave strings??

Tune one of the octave string just a cent or two flat and you'll get a really cool chorus sound out of that bass. Let your ears be the judge on the degree, you'll hear it!

I am not sure I'd string a triple course bass with flats - that's a lot of tension on the neck.

The one I have is TECHNICALLY my second. I went down to pick up my first one and when they were setting it up for me, the bridge literally ripped out of the bass.

(zero problems with my "second" one. Although, keeping it in tune is a beotch)

you could tune it with chords, but it would be a pain in the but to get the right stings for all the different pitches

i thought that too so i gave the truss rods a good tweak when i was setting up and it actually made the neck too straight i had to back them off a few turns

methinks i'll tune a couple of octave strings flat n see how it sounds
