17th Fret Buzz

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a mexican Fender P-bass and my 17th fret on the G string buzzes. Actually it pretty much just makes a stupid noise that has the same note as the 18th fret. None of the other frets have this problem and i know that i might be able to raise the action to remedy the problem, but i like it the way it is. Anyone have any input on the situation?

maybe the 18th fret has lifted and is high. check with a straight edge and magnifying glasses
or the 17th could have a dent in it causing it to be low
