1973 P-Bass Issue

I have a 73 P-Bass with original pickups. I get good volume/tone from the E and A strings, but on the D and G the volume drops off quite noticeably. Any ideas on what would cause this?

You might raise the G side of the D/G pup.

The foam beneath the pickups has probably collapsed from age. Replace with some high densisty foam and you should be able to adjust the pickup heigth
