1st and 2nd frets "dead" on g string

I have my action set up very low on a p bass. It's been like that pretty much from the store. I love it, but the 1st couple frets on the g-string are pretty much dead, because the string is so low. It barely even buzzes, I'm not really sure what to call it.

Anyway, I'm a little confused, because I've read that if your strings are buzzing on the 1st couple of frets it means you should adjust your truss rod to get a more concave shape, and if they're buzzing near the 20th fret etc raise the bridge.

What if it's only the g string, but still the first couple frets. I'm assuming I should just adjust the bridge because it's one string that buzzes and I don't want to lose the great action on the other strings. That said, will I throw off the intonation adjusting the bridge but trying to reduce buzz on the first two frets.

Perhaps it's the nut, but it looks "fine" to me.

Thank you in advance.

Raise the saddle a bit and then check the intonation.

It is NOT the nut. The nut is out of the equation all together when you fret a note.

Odds are you have a high fret somewhere.

You could also try a higher guage G string, might solve your problem.

I run into this a lot as Im obsessed with LOW action. I'm 95% certain your intonation is off. I like the suggestion of bumping up the string a touch and tweaking the intonation..Its simple...tune the string to pitch then check it at the 12th.

If its flat adjust the saddle (or loosen)forward toward the neck...if its sharp...tighten and pull saddle away from neck.
