Question 2008 American Standard Jazz bass fretboard issue.

Hi, longtime lurker. Did do a search based on observed protocol

Burning issue so just had to ask.

Have a 08 American Standard Jazz Bass, great instrument for my simple needs and even simpler skill level.

However a year ago, when I ran my fingernail down the joint where the rosewood fretboard and maple neck meets, I can feel that the fretboard and neck no longer sit flush with each other, at least 1/4 down the neck from the nut. As if the neck itself is a few microns wider than the fingerboard.

The bass still plays ok, no issues with action, playability, sound etc. There's no 'fret sprout' too and the fret edges still feel perfectly flush with the fingerboard. I can't seem to see any delamination under a bright light and magnifying glass.

It's not visible but ever so slightly feel-able. Sometime I forget that it's there. I do try to take care of it, not leaving it out in extreme temperatures, humidity etc.

Could this be the neck swelling slightly or a finish aging issue?
Is this normal when Fender basses age or any bass/guitar for that matter? Should I be concerned and would this be a sign of issues to come?

I would have brought it back to the dealer here in Australia, but the crappy thing is that we only get a 12 month warranty unlike the lifetime deal like most of you in the US. Although we do pay alot more!

i also live in Australia and try to prevent the weather coming into play with the wood, but its almost unavoidable. The best thing would be just to take it to your luthier and ask what he can do rather than try and tackle fixing something like that, it's safe and if other unknown issues are there, a luthier can fix them.
