2011 American Deluxe Pickguard?

Sign in to disble this ad
So I have a shiny new 2011 American Deluxe precision bass, with a butt-ugly plain black guard. I would like to replace it with a tort or white pearloid guard, and did in fact order a white pearl guard from BassPartsResource.

The problem I ran into was, that the 2011 Deluxes have a very different pickguard shape. As in, the pre-2011 Deluxe pickguard is totally useless to me. (If anybody wants it, feel free to PM me; yours for the shipping.) (Sorry, it's gone as of June 7th, '11.)

So, short of custom work, does anybody know where I might be able to source a guard that would fit? I know of a few places, internet and local, that could make me one, but I'd rather order a stock item if I could. For reference, this is the bass with the two single and two stack knobs, plus a mini toggle switch and a side jack.

Thanks in advance!

This is a mystery to me . . .

Visually - the pickguard looks just like any other Jazz pickguard . . . what am I not seeing? How is it so different?

or is it that it is only slightly off so the screws won't fit the oldstyle hole locations?

Please explain.
Thanks!
