23rd fret, neck buzz!

Sign in to disble this ad
After playing a bit on the fretless this morning, I just realized that there is a huge amount of buzz on the 23rd fret of the A and D string...and it's only when played right on the spot. Everywhere else along the neck sounds great. Any ideas of how to kill this?

Your fretless has frets?

Probably the fretboard has some curve about the 23th fret. Get it fixed by a pro

In relation to a fretted bass...and I guess it'd really be called neck buzz?

Peculiar... The string could be too tight, or you may not be pressing hard enough. If your fretless has a bridge that can adjust the action, try lowering that.

Lined or unlined fretless? Sometimes the lines on a lined fretless stand a little "proud" and can cause unwanted noise.
