I have the original 4 and had an original 5...they're both very, very heavy.

Return of the snake! Since you can't see where the saddles all bolt to the same plate they therefore are sonically isolated... Unless you look at the back of the bass.

Follow the logic a bit further and these bridges claim to not sonically connect to the body in any way. Hmmm, that sounds bad, eliminates string crosstalk, yeah that will sell parts

I'm sure it also adds resonance.

New Wide 5 Version

They are also offering a 5 string version with 19 mm string spacing. Serious GAS.

Many years ago, I had a Custom Shop Schecter bass with an original 2Tek. It was a fantastic sounding bass (wish I never sold it), but because it came from Schecter with the 2Tek installed, there's no telling how much sonic mojo the 2Tek actually contributed. It would be interesting to hear real-world user's "before & after" opinions.

Once you go 2tek You don't go back! Seriously, you don't go back. You can't go back. You have to route out half your body to install it.

from a guitar POV, it's all true. My Tele sustains like a piano and sounds huge.

...and that would be different from a Traben Chaos bridge or G&L saddle-lock... how? exactly?

Those bridges are fine upgrade gear but... I will never decide to make a hole in the body of my Fender basses to install this bridge. Probably decision to install this thing could broke my heart...

I just got off the phone with Warmoth, the cost is $45 for the routing. I'm considering sending my Warmoth body in. I owned a Hamer Cruise bass and really enjoyed the sound.

I remember my jaw dropping when I read that Chuck Rainey put a 2Tek in his '57 P-bass. I had a similar experience when I saw Caleb Quaye had put a Floyd Rose in his '64 Strat. It then dawned on me that many of my favorite players don't treat their instruments like sacred cows and will customize anything to suit their specific needs, collector value be damned.

I'd still never do such a thing to a vintage instrument...

If you really want to argue the "tone is in the wood" angle, well...there you go.

I had an American Standard Jazz Bass with a 2-tek. I was not impressed. Heavy, with some of the usual dead spots. Not interested in trying again.
