3+1 headstock conversion question

Sign in to disble this ad
I am replacing the crappy tuners on my no-name MM copy pawnshop bass, and am planning to convert the current 4-on-top headstock to the 3-on-top 1-on-bottom arrangement... just because it looks cool. I will be shaving the top of the headstock off in a slanted configuration, kinda Ibanez-style.

The tuners are Hipshot HB6C-3/8 mini-Gotoh style clovers (chrome of course), replacing the crap no-name whale-tails.

Question is... I heard somewhere that having a tuner on the bottom would land me in hot water with the EB folks. Will it, even if the headstock is shaped completely different, painted black and clear-coated?

The bass has no markings on whatsoever except for the dings I put on it.

Anyway, i welcome your input, and will post pics when it's done.

I heard somewhere that 83% of the time heard somewhere is not a reliable source.

Not unless you're mass producing them to sell...

If you sell 10,000 of them, worry.

If it's just for you, you can put their logo on it. They don't have secret ninja copyright spys running around keeping tabs on every bass in the world.

Though they charge like they do.

Thanks all.

@MooseLumps, "The Red Rocket" needs no logo.
