| 4 and 1 tuners for a 5 string, do I need a special treble side tuner?

Just got a 5 string Squier and I need to replace the tuners. Do I have to buy a 5 tuner set with one for the treble side or can I just take a regular tuner apart and flip the key so it'll work? I've already got 2 tuners so I just need three more to finish up. Does this make any sense?
