Question 5 string tuning HELP

Sign in to disble this ad
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Okay i play in a drop B tuning with my band which goes B,F#,B,E on my 4 stringer but i am about to purchase a 5 stringer and instead ov dropping the B string down, i was thinking ov keeping the B as a B and tuning everything else up i.e the E to the F#

But i am worried about the neck as i obviously dont want this to bend

I was thinking if i got a low guage string set and tune up this would stop this problem. Am i right??

the bass is a thru neck also if that makes any differance

any help would be much apreciated

I wouldn't worry too much about the full step uptuning. The single string that's out of the scheme shouldn't mess with it. But I guarantee that you'll have to do another setup with that tuning.
