'51 P Bass paint job info

I'm looking into getting a Fender CIJ '51 P bass & does anyone have any recommendations for where to send for a repaint. The butterscotch doesn't do it for me. Looking into something similar to surf green or sonic blue. Also, if i remove the paint prior would that save some cash or is it not worth it. I'm not looking for an educational experience so if it doesn't save much I'd rather not do it myself.

You'll save a lot of money if you do it yourself. The downside is, it's a lot of work and you have to really be careful to do a good job. You may not have to remove the existing finish if you're going to put a solid colour on the bass. Just sand what's on there so the new finish has something to grab on to.

You will have to remove the pickups, controls and all the hardware and the neck. If you get someone to do the refinish they'll charge more if they have to do it.

Prices vary depending on who you're getting to do it. $300 and up for a good job.

Go to the Reranch site and see what they say and you can decide if you want to tackle it yourself.

Is the bass worth it to you to invest that much in it? Either your time or someone else?
