7 1/4 radius.."Warble" on g string

My 60's Classic Jazz has what I'd describe as a warble on the upper register frets of the G string. I also have it to some degree on my Marcus Miller Jazz. My action is not what I would consider low and I've backed the pickup as far away as possible.
I can't raise the action anymore or it would not be as playable. The bass is also set up well with the correct radius on the strings as well as relief
Could this be due to the fact that the string is still too close to the pickup causing this chorus type effect.

My bet is the pickup is too close. The warble sound while fretting high on the neck is a clue as this pushes the string down closer to the pup. Its easy enough to bring that side of the pup down some and listen.

Got any pics of the distance of string to both pickups? Might help in diagnosing.

Could be a twisted string, it's been known to happen. Even less likely is a poor contact patch at nut or bridge, but that is really stretching it.

I believe this is a pickup-to-string distance problem.

I'm going to have to get the routes a bit deeper to lower the pickup as they are bottomed out.
Action is to Fender specs..not too high or low.
I have the Custom Shop 60's in it and the copper grounding plate is beneath the pickup. It's a bit more prominent in this bass than my Marcus.
I would guess to say that this could be a problem with basses with this neck radius ??
Thanks

If you use nickels, it could be your strings...i've noticed tht when my strings are "way past" broken in the strings wear flat spots where they are fretted. This can cause a "warbling" effect that is noticable especially in the higher registers of the D and G string. It could be the distance between the srings and poles on your neck pup as well.
