74 Jazz help!

Ok, I bought this bass of a dude on craigslist recently. For as cheap as I got it for, I was just worried about completing the transaction as fast as possible! After inspecting it closely, there is something strange going on with the bridge. It has apparently been moved from its original position as there are two sets of mounting holes. The problem is the new location (about a half inch north) lines up perfectly on the neck as far as the strings look. The problem is that it lines up way off the pickup pole pieces for each string! What is going on with this! Here are some pics:

Was this thing misaligned from the factory or something? Its like the pickup routes match the original bridge location, but not the neck. The neck seems near perfect feeling...no warps or anything and the truss turns freely. I actually love the neck. Help!

One of the pickups is at Fralin getting a rewind, but I stuck the cover from the other one in its bridge slot and the pole holes are way off.

As you can see in the pics, the neck is lined up square in the body, but there is a little gap between the neck and the body. Nothing major though...probably in line with the average 70's Fender I would imagine!

HELP!
