75' Fender Jazz Replacement Neck

Sign in to disble this ad
I recently purchased an original 75' fender jazz bass that needs a new neck. The body has already been altered to fit a 4 screw neck but I don't know what kind of neck I need for this. I don't ahve the money for a real 75' neck at this time, and would like something affordable and playable that won't damage the body. What about mitey-mite or warmoth?

You can pick up an Allparts Jazz neck with blocks and binding that should work nicely for a '75 replacement. You'll just have to drill the mounting holes in the neck, install a nut and tuners, and you'll be good to go. I previously owned a '70's ash Fender P body that I installed one with a rosewood board w/blocks and binding that felt and played great.

more than likely, given it's a Fender neck, but you'd have to do a test fit to make sure it'll work. My main bass at the moment is a CIJ Fender Marcus Miller neck on a MIM jazz body, the fit is just a little loose, but not enough to cause problems once mounted.
Warmoth necks are more expensive than the Allparts and I've heard about neck dive problems due to the extra support rods in them, and alot of MM necks i've seen are usually unfinished, that's why i suggested the Allparts. If you want to maintain the '70's Fender look you can't go wrong with the bound and blocked necks.
