'76 Gibson Ripper ground issue.

I have taken this bass apart so many times to try and figure out how to install a new ground wire because the hum is insane when my hands are off the strings. It looks to me like the wire goes into the bridge post, but when i took out the post I realized there is indeed a female threaded side down in the hole. Does anybody know the best way to get the female side out of the hole without damaging the threads?
