Exclamation 77 Fretless Fender P Bass - Neck

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi guys,

I own a 77 fretless Fender P Bass. I love the sound, and the bass is in PERFECT condition. I bought it off a guy who had hardly played the bass since he is an upright player.

Now, I've been playing with the bass for about a year, and love it but I would really like to move back to fretted bass. Fretless is just not my thing. I was thinking to look for an old vintage P Bass again, but then I thought about changing the neck on this bass to a fretted one.

Could this work? Would it affect the sound of the bass? The bass has a kind of natural overdiven mid woody sound, I really don't want to mess with that. Also, the neck is connected to the body with 1 big screw, and there is no way to elevate it. Meaning it just comes out, and goes in.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Please keep in mind the most important factor is to not change the sound of the bass! If I'm gonna screw up the sound I'd rather leave it as it is and just not play it

Thanks a lot guys!
